CamWeave app privacy.
Effective September 27, 2026. This notice covers CamWeave Camera and CamWeave Viewer for iOS, and the self-hosted CamWeave Web viewer, developed by Jianxuan Li.
No developer-hosted video service
The apps do not send video, camera links, analytics or advertising identifiers to a CamWeave-operated server. No CamWeave account is required. We do not include advertising or analytics SDKs.
Camera and network use
CamWeave Camera uses the iPhone camera to transmit live video to devices with a valid viewing link and a network path to the camera. It does not capture microphone audio in this version. Local-network permission enables connection on your network. Anyone with the viewing link and permitted network access may watch and change camera settings, so protect both.
Information stored on your devices
The Camera app saves preferences, the selected remote host and access code on the device. Viewer stores camera names and viewing links in the device Keychain and saves language preferences locally. You can remove saved cameras in Viewer or change the camera’s access code. The apps do not record video in this release.
Self-hosted Web viewer
If you use CamWeave Web, your chosen server relays video and stores camera names and viewing links in its local data directory. Its operator can access that data and the feeds. Protect its storage and backups, and use a trusted private network. The Web viewer uses a login session cookie; it does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Removing a camera removes its saved entry; the server operator controls backups and deletion of the data directory.
Third parties
Apple manages App Store purchases and distribution under its own policies. Network/VPN and hosting providers process connection data according to their policies. Choose providers and a server operator you trust. CamWeave does not operate your VPN.
Support and changes
If you voluntarily submit a support issue, its content is handled by GitHub under its policies and may be public. Never include camera links, access codes or footage in an issue. See support for contact and troubleshooting. This notice will be updated when our data practices change.
